Flash: The Obamaadministration announced today that it will begin to normalize relations with Cuba, saying  that "It was time for a new approach" after 50 years of policies that haven't worked for either country. Many restrictions applying to Cuba will be lifted, including travel. This opens up many possibilities for baby boomers - not just freer travel but also the country as a retirement destination?  Who knows, but one thing is certain - a lot is going to change fast!  See our article aboutyour editor's recent trip to Cuba below.

Ofall the hundreds of best places to retire lists, the biennial list from the Milken Institute is one of the very best. It is totally fact based, and uses 87 criteria that make sense - such as health care, economy, transportation, etc.  We've culled out their top cities for a successful retirement - 10 large cities and 10 small/medium ones.
As overseas retirements go it is hard to top this coastal region in Southern Portugal. It has good weather, unbelievable beauty, low crime, reasonable cost of living, and welcomes expats.
Cuba is full of contradictions.  It is a beautiful and fascinating country.
